It's opening night. I have blisters on my feet, sore knees, bruises on my hips from my heavy hoop skirt, 111 bobby pins in my hair, and a whole lot of adrenalin. I am ready to perform 231 lines ,7 vocal solos, and 8 extremely fast costume changes. I am also prepared to emotionally engage my audience through laughter, tears, and an honest portrayal of an inspiring story. The most impactful message I internalized from playing Mrs. Anna Leonowens in The King and I was that "trying our utmost best" in all we do makes all the difference. I also learned that "you may be as brave as you make believe you are."
